Contract Type: Part-Time Contract
Working Pattern: 4 hours per day, 3 days per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
We’re currently recruiting for an Application Support Engineer to join an onsite lab-based technical team supporting critical applications and systems. This is a fantastic opportunity for an entry-level or early-career IT professional with Level 1 helpdesk experience to gain hands-on exposure across application support, infrastructure, and networking in a structured environment.
You’ll play a key role in supporting Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), maintaining system reliability, and assisting with ongoing network and infrastructure activities.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide technical support for applications and systems
Support and maintain Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
Monitor system and application performance
Assist with network upgrades and infrastructure changes
Carry out routine maintenance activities
Handle incidents and service requests via ticketing systems
Work closely with the onsite lab and IT teams
Level 1–2 support or helpdesk background
Networking knowledge including:
Patch management
IP address management
DHCP / DNS
Experience with:
Active Directory and Group Policy
Windows Server
Linux environments
Comfortable working onsite in a technical/lab setting
Based in or able to commute to Swansea
Experience working in medium to large organisations
Healthcare sector experience desirable (not essential)
Reliable, proactive, and keen to develop technical skills
Flexible part-time hours
Strong hands-on technical exposure
Entry point into application and infrastructure support
Collaborative onsite technical environment
