NOC Tier 2 Engineer

NOC Tier 2 Engineer – £34,000 – Bolton

We’re working with a well-established and award-winning managed services provider to recruit two NOC Tier 2 Engineers for their operations team based in Bolton. This is an ideal opportunity for second-line engineers or IT graduates ready to build their careers in a fast-paced, secure, and service-driven environment.

You’ll provide 24/7 remote support across a range of networking and security technologies, with structured access to training, certifications, and development into senior roles.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver second-line support across networks, connectivity, and infrastructure
• Troubleshoot and resolve incidents involving routers, switches, and firewalls
• Monitor customer environments using network management tools
• Work directly with end-users to understand and resolve technical issues
• Use downtime on shift for structured training and certification paths
• Contribute to continuous service improvement
• Work independently as part of a 24/7 operations rota

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• 1 year in a technical support/NOC/SOC role or a relevant IT degree
• Knowledge of core networking concepts: routing, switching, LAN/WAN
• Familiarity with networking hardware from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Check Point, etc.
• Excellent communication and incident management skills
• Willingness to work a 24/7 rotating shift pattern
• UK citizenship (due to vetting requirements)

Desirable:

• Certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, or similar
• Understanding of IT security fundamentals
• Experience in a high-availability or managed service environment

Shift Pattern

Rotating across a 6-week pattern:

• 2x Early shifts: 06:00 – 14:30
• 2x Late shifts: 14:00 – 22:00
• 1x Night shift: 22:00 – 06:00
• Weekends: 06:00 – 18:00 / 18:00 – 06:00
