Business Analyst / QA Engineer

Location: Australia Work Arrangement: Remote-friendly

About the Role

Were looking for a hands-on Business Analyst / QA Engineer to join a growing product and engineering team. Youll sit between the business and technical teams, turning requirements into clear user stories and process flows while making sure new features are properly tested before release.

Key Responsibilities

Gather and document requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and functional specifications.

Map end-to-end processes using workflow, swimlane and decision-flow diagrams.

Create test plans, test cases and scripts across functional, regression, integration and UAT testing.

Perform hands-on manual testing across web and mobile applications.

Identify, document and manage defects through to resolution, including reproduction steps, severity and root-cause analysis.

Test REST APIs and third-party integrations, validating endpoints, data payloads, error handling and system behaviour.

Work closely with developers, product managers and operations teams throughout Agile/Scrum delivery.

Identify gaps in requirements, documentation and test coverage and drive improvements to delivery quality.

About You

Strong Business Analysis experience within software/product environments.

Hands-on manual QA experience across web applications, with exposure to mobile testing.

Experience with REST API testing, ideally using Postman, Swagger or similar tools.

Strong understanding of requirements, acceptance criteria, process flows and defect management.

Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum teams and participating in sprint ceremonies.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.

Able to work independently, manage competing priorities and take ownership of outcomes.

Nice to Have

Experience with BPMN, UML or swimlane process modelling.

Exposure to test automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress or Katalon.

Experience with SQL/database validation, particularly PostgreSQL.

Experience working on marketplace or platform products with multiple user types.

Understanding of frontend/backend architecture and system integrations.
