Cloud Engineer

1. Title

Cloud Engineer AWS/Azure Up to 180,000 Super

Take ownership of secure, globally connected cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure. Youll work with modern networking, security, infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD technologies while supporting projects used by an international business.

Pearson Carter is working with a globally recognised design organisation delivering major projects across Australia and international markets. Following continued investment in its technology environment, the company is expanding its global cloud team with a Cloud Engineer based in Brisbane.

3. Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and manage secure, highly available infrastructure across AWS and Azure.
• Build cloud networking solutions covering VPCs, VNets, subnets, DNS, routing, VPNs, Direct Connect and ExpressRoute.
• Configure firewalls and security controls, including Palo Alto, security groups, NACLs and Azure NSGs.
• Maintain infrastructure-as-code using AWS CDK and TypeScript while improving existing automation standards.
• Support cloud migration, CI/CD infrastructure, monitoring, vulnerability remediation and complex technical troubleshooting.

4. Experience

You will need:

• At least five years commercial experience working with AWS, Azure or multi-cloud infrastructure.
• Strong cloud networking knowledge across VPCs, VNets, subnets, DNS, routing and private connectivity.
• Hands-on experience configuring firewalls and cloud security controls.
• Commercial infrastructure-as-code experience using AWS CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep or comparable tooling.
• Experience supporting CI/CD environments through GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins or similar platforms.
• Strong scripting capability with Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.

Highly advantageous:

• Palo Alto firewall experience.
• AWS CDK and TypeScript expertise.
• Hybrid cloud and multi-cloud delivery experience.
• Knowledge of zero-trust, segmentation and private networking.
• AWS Solutions Architect and Microsoft Azure certifications.
• Experience with CloudWatch, Azure Monitor and Prometheus.

The position is based in Brisbane, Queensland, with hybrid working available.

Youll collaborate with technical teams across APAC, Europe and the Americas, so you should be comfortable working across different disciplines, cultures and time zones.
