D365 Project Operations Specialist Outside IR35 Remote

Pearson Carter are working with a well-established digital transformation consultancy who are looking for an experienced D365 Project Operations Specialist to assess, stabilise and improve their existing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations platform.

This is an excellent contract opportunity for a hands-on D365 specialist with experience recovering underperforming implementations, improving Dataverse environments and establishing robust application lifecycle management (ALM) processes.

Youll work closely with business stakeholders and an established in-house Power Platform team, initially focusing on a technical health check and discovery phase. Depending on the findings, there is the opportunity to progress into a wider remediation and delivery programme.

The successful candidate will receive a day rate Outside IR35, with predominantly remote working and occasional travel to York.

The Role

• Conduct a comprehensive technical assessment of the existing D365 Project Operations platform.
• Review solutions, solution layering, environments, customisations, integrations, automations and security configurations.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies and areas requiring improvement across the existing estate.
• Assess the current implementation and recommend whether components should be remediated, partially rebuilt or reimplemented.
• Work closely with business stakeholders and process owners to understand current processes, challenges and requirements.
• Evaluate standard Dynamics 365 functionality against custom developments, recommending solutions that minimise unnecessary complexity.
• Develop a prioritised remediation roadmap, including estimated effort, risks and dependencies.
• Establish best practices for Dataverse ALM, environment management and controlled deployment processes.
• Support the remediation and optimisation of the platform following the initial discovery phase.
• Collaborate with the internal Power Platform team to improve technical capability and platform ownership.
• Provide clear documentation and knowledge sharing to ensure the business can confidently maintain and develop the solution.
• Help prepare the platform to support future business growth and acquisitions.

What We're Looking For

• Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations across multiple implementations.
• Proven experience assessing, recovering or remediating an existing or underperforming D365 implementation.
• Strong practical knowledge of Dataverse and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).
• Experience managing managed and unmanaged solutions, solution layering, dependencies and environment strategies.
• Experience establishing governed deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or Power Platform Pipelines.
• Strong understanding of D365 Project Operations commercial processes, including contracts, price lists, resource management, time and expenses, actuals and invoicing.
• Knowledge of D365 Project Operations capabilities available without the Finance & Operations deployment.
• Ability to assess existing system architecture and identify opportunities to simplify and improve the platform.
• Experience translating business requirements into effective process designs and technical solutions.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• A collaborative approach, with the ability to coach and support internal technical teams.

Desirable Skills

• Experience publishing and managing content within Power BI Service.
• Working knowledge of SQL.
• Experience with Power Automate and the wider Microsoft Power Platform.
• Previous experience coaching, mentoring or developing internal delivery teams.
• Experience working in a consultancy or client-facing environment.
• Strong documentation skills and experience working within structured development processes.

Rate & Benefits

• Day rate of up to 900.
• Outside IR35 contract.

Location

This is a predominantly remote contract position, with occasional travel to the client's York office as required.
