Data & Solution Architect Microsoft Fabric & Purview NZ110130 per hour Wellington Hybrid

Company

Take ownership of enterprise data architecture on a government client engagement. Youll build on an established Microsoft Fabric environment, shape its governance through Microsoft Purview, and turn architectural standards into production-ready data products.

Responsibilities

Review the existing Microsoft Fabric environment, OneLake structure and operational framework, identifying whats needed to support scalable delivery.

Define architectural standards, ingestion strategies and integration patterns to guide future data engineering.

Design and implement Bronze, Silver and Gold Medallion Architecture layers, delivering one to two production-ready data products.

Establish ETL/ELT pipelines, transformation patterns and semantic models that make enterprise data usable and reliable.

Design Microsoft Purview governance architecture covering metadata, cataloguing, lineage, classification, sensitivity labels and access controls.

Experience

Essential:

Proven experience as a Senior or Lead Data Architect designing enterprise-scale, cloud-native data solutions.

Hands-on Microsoft Fabric expertise across OneLake, Lakehouses, Warehouses, Dataflows Gen2, Data Factory and Direct Lake.

Strong Microsoft Purview architecture and implementation experience, including automated scanning, cataloguing, lineage and classification within Azure/Fabric environments.

A strong understanding of Medallion Architecture, data modelling and Data Mesh/Data Product principles.

Deep knowledge of ETL/ELT ingestion, pipeline orchestration and metadata-driven frameworks, with the ability to take designs through to production.

Advantageous:

Experience delivering data solutions for New Zealand Government or public sector agencies.

Salary

NZ110130 per hour, negotiable depending on experience.

This full-time contract gives you ownership of architecture and governance decisions, alongside hands-on delivery within an already provisioned Microsoft Fabric environment.

Location

Wellington, New Zealand hybrid working.
