With ongoing investment in digital solutions and improvements to internal systems, the organisation is looking for a technically capable developer who can help shape and maintain its application landscape. You will contribute to new development initiatives, improve existing solutions and investigate technical issues, working closely with colleagues to ensure systems are reliable, effective and easy to use.
This position would suit someone who enjoys a varied technical role that combines hands-on development, systems improvement and collaboration with business users. You will have the opportunity to contribute ideas, take ownership of technical projects and identify ways to use technology to simplify processes and support the firm's continued growth.
If you're looking for a role where you can apply your development skills to real business challenges and play an active part in improving internal technology, we'd love to hear from you!
Responsibilities
Design, develop and enhance business solutions using Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI to address operational requirements.
Configure and maintain VisualFiles applications, developing case management workflows, document templates, forms, scripts and supporting features.
Investigate how existing processes operate and identify opportunities to reduce manual tasks through automation and system improvements.
Create and maintain integrations between business applications, Microsoft 365 services, VisualFiles, Power Platform and external systems.
Contribute to the support and development of bespoke software solutions built with C# and the .NET framework.
Query and maintain SQL databases, support data-related activities and investigate performance or data integrity issues.
Diagnose application errors and integration failures, tracing technical problems to their source and delivering sustainable fixes.
Plan and carry out functional and technical testing to validate enhancements and minimise disruption when deploying changes.
Maintain clear technical records covering application configurations, system interfaces, development work and operational procedures.
Engage with internal teams to understand business challenges, document requirements and translate them into workable technical specifications.
Coordinate assigned application development tasks, upgrades and improvement projects from initial investigation through to implementation.
Collaborate with IT colleagues to maintain the availability, security and reliability of the firm's core business applications.
Evaluate current application functionality and recommend changes that improve usability, efficiency, maintainability and system performance.
Keep up to date with relevant technologies and contribute to the ongoing development of the organisation's wider business systems.
Experience
Previous commercial experience in software development, business application development or the technical support of business-critical systems.

Familiarity with VisualFiles or comparable case management, workflow automation or enterprise application software.
Competence in SQL, including writing queries and working with relational database environments.
Understanding of application connectivity and data exchange, including APIs, REST services or Dataverse.
Experience with C# and .NET development, or transferable programming experience using a similar object-oriented technology.
Ability to investigate complex technical issues involving application behaviour, database queries, data flows and system integrations.
Knowledge of software testing, release management and the safe implementation of application changes.
Familiarity with version control systems, structured development practices and maintaining good-quality code.
Confidence communicating with non-technical users to clarify requirements, resolve system issues and explain proposed changes.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to balance project delivery, development priorities and ongoing application support.
A methodical approach to problem-solving, with the ability to assess different options and implement effective solutions.
Good interpersonal and written communication skills, including the ability to document technical work clearly.
