Trading Executive – Scrap Metal & Recycling

We are seeking a commercially minded Trading Executive to join an established Australian recycling and industrial business based in Mackay.

The role will focus on sourcing and purchasing ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal, managing customer accounts and coordinating deliveries to nominated facilities.

This is a hands-on commercial role suited to someone with experience in sales, account management or industrial trading who enjoys building relationships, negotiating deals and identifying opportunities for growth.

1.2 Key Responsibilities

Manage existing customer accounts while developing new business opportunities.

Build strong relationships with customers and understand their individual requirements.

Negotiate pricing and prepare quotes based on customer needs.

Coordinate scrap metal procurement and deliveries to relevant facilities.

Work closely with trading and operations teams to maintain service standards.

Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, company policies and safe work practices.

Identify opportunities to improve processes, customer retention and business performance.

1.3 What We're Looking For

Experience in sales, account management or business development.

Experience in scrap metal, recycling, waste management or a related industrial environment is advantageous.

Strong negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills.

Ability to manage competing priorities and organise work effectively.

Commercial awareness and a focus on growing customer accounts.

A practical, solutions-focused approach with a strong commitment to workplace safety.

Ability to work collaboratively with customers, contractors and internal stakeholders.
